1. What do you offer to OC Doula's Customers?
I am a DONA certified birth doula and childbirth educator. I teach Hypnobabies, as well as Basic Childbirth Education. I work in Laguna Hills for Beach Cities Midwifery at the Beachside Birth Center with Certified Nurse Midwives BJ Snell and Vicki Alston as a birth assistant, massage therapist and childbirth educator. I also offer classes out of my home in Costa Mesa.

2. Why did you decide to become a doula?
My sister was my doula. She talked to me about birth and was there for me the whole time I needed her. I didn't have to ask her to do anything, she just knew. This made such a difference in my birth. She was there to comfort me with words when I felt defeated, she was there with a warm flaxseed lavendar pillow when my back was aching, she knew exactly where to put the ice cold wash cloth. She was there to explain everything going on and helped Matt to relax. She changed my birth. My midwife, BJ Snell, was also there the whole time I was birthing...not just at the end when my baby was halfway out. Women don't have this type of support in the birth room if they are birthing in the hospitals. I think many women don't realize that in hospitals the nurses are only there part of the time and that mom and dad are often left alone. Who gets ice chips or refills juice? Who explains what is going on and helps to educate mom and dad through decision making? Who is there for dad when the birth has been going on for 20 hours and he needs to sleep but mom doesn't want to be alone? Having my babies was the best experience of my life and I will always remember it. In fact, whenever I ask women of any age about their birth stories, most remember every detail. I became a doula to make sure that these memories are the best ones possible! Like my sister did for me!

3. What are your hobbies or passions?
I am a homebody and really enjoy the simple things in life. Family, good friends, lots of laughter, and my boys are what makes me the happiest. I love being part of the birth world and couldn't imagine doing anything else with my life.

4. What is your philosophy about birth?
I believe that every woman should be able to birth the way she wants, regardless of what that may be. I am here to support mom and dad in whatever they need.

5. Tell us a little something about your personal life.
I have to beautiful boys. I had Marley in 2006 and Cash in 2008. I grew up in Southern California and love my life. I have three sisters, whose children are all the same age as my children so we have many get togethers. I believe that when you do what you love you never work a day in your life.

6. What are your specialties or unique qualities?
I think energy is really powerful so I use a lot of positive energy, which can be healing. I use acupressure, massage, aromatherapy, and visualization where needed...and of course lots of patience and love..
