1. What do you offer to OC Doula's Customers?
First and foremost I offer my Birth Doula services to OC Doula customers. Everything else I offer are different modalities of things that help with the process of pregnancy and parenthood. With that being said, I am a Lactation Consultant, Student Midwife, Prenatal Yoga Instructor, CPR Instructor and a Emergency Medical Technician who is a provider in Neonatal Resuscitation. I also teach private Childbirth, Breastfeeding and Baby Basics classes.

2. Why did you decide to become a doula?
I have ALWAYS been passionate about birth and my original plan in life was to work in Labor and Delivery as an RN, but my daughter decided to come before nursing school did. After my own birth experience with my daughter Dylyn, I was so inspired to help others let their bodies do such a miraculous thing. So, I looked into becoming a Doula and decided to take the UCSD School of Medicine program to become a Childbirth Educator and a Doula. That by far has been one of the best life changes I have experienced.

3. What are your hobbies or passions?
I love being with my family. We enjoy sailing and traveling whenever we can when we get the chance. We have been to so many different exotic locations, and love giving our daughter the opportunity to learn wisdom from people all over the world.

4. What is your philosophy about birth?
I believe that birth is a profound rite of passage that every woman should be able to experience with being surrounded by options, love, and support. But all and all, I think Gerri Ryan states this best, "Deep within every woman is the ability to birth. When she has confidence in her own abilities, the encouragement and freedom to tap into her innate wisdom, and has the loving support of family, friends and professionals who believe this too, she will truly have a satisfying birth experience."

5. Tell us a little something about your personal life.
I was born in Colorado and moved to Irvine, California when I was 11. My daughter Dylyn was born in December of 2002. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful little girl... she is the light of my life!

6. What are your specialties or unique qualities?
I offer many comfort measures including massage, deep relaxation, counter pressure, visualization, and come with a birth ball which is a wonderful tool in labor. My goal is to help my clients attain their birthing goals, whatever they may be. I emphasize lots of education prenatally and make sure that nutrition and exercise/positioning are a part of my work with my clients before they enter labor as it can make a huge difference in the quality of their birth.
